Whilst I was in New York I was looking forward to going to the vintage market I had heard so much about in Hell's Kitchen, but unfortunately I couldn't find it!!! (If anybody could tell me exactly where it is that would be great!) I was quite disappointed but I did find some really good vintage shops in the East Village. I can't remember what the name of the shop was, but it was super cheap! I found two gorgeous beaded cardigans for $30 each, after seeing similar ones in a shop nearby for $70!!!

In the same shop I also found an original 1960s coat in a beautiful green colour, but it had a fur collar so I didn't get it. I did however get these two dresses; both of them need taking up at the bottom, and with a little bit of (poor) photoshop magic I can see what they will look like after I make them shorter!

I also went to the Lulu Guinness shop in Greenwich Village and got myself an adorable vanity case. I love the 50s pattern all over it! But I feel like it's too pretty to actually use!

I had a little furry friend supervising me whilst I was taking the photos, but she got tired and fell asleep! :)

Yesterday I went charity shopping with some friends and picked up these bits:

This cute little cameo brooch. The face looks a bit mangled but I love the gold frame, especially the crown detail at the top.

I am collecting odd frames with pretty things inside to put on my bedroom wall. The little one was 99p and the larger one is a beautiful bouquet of pressed flowers from 1987.

Hits from the Swinging Sixties

After a visit to the dentist this morning, I popped into the charity shop just around the corner and managed to pick up two fantastic bargains!
I have been looking for a good faux fur coat for a while now, but couldn’t find one I liked, so when I saw this one on the rail I had to buy it. Plus, it was only £10! It’s in really good condition and the colour is just right. It’s just the perfect coat to wear with my vintage dresses.

Then as I was walking to the till I spotted this handbag. I looked inside and saw that it was like a handbag and purse all in one! It’s got loads of pockets for loose change and everything, and it was only £1.99!!

All in all, it was a good day for bargains!

Yesterday I did some well overdue shopping and bought some winter clothes. I got TWO coats for £30!!! Bargainatious! I apologise for the poor image quality; I’m using my boyfriend’s camera phone until I get a digital camera for my birthday. Both coats are from Primark! I usually hate Primark clothes as they are so cheap and poorly made but these coats are definitely an exception. I have been searching for the perfect coat for a few weeks now but all that I have come across seemed to fall short of my expectations, then I found these two gems; they suit me perfectly because my taste and style is always changing and I’m always seeing new things that I like better. It would be nice to have a classic cut black coat that I can update each season with accessories, so maybe I will still keep and eye open for one. I am going to replace the buttons on the pink coat with some vintage ones my aunt gave me.

I have been searching everywhere for some long black leather gloves to wear with the bracelet sleeved coat, but the TopShop ones were sold out and I couldn’t find a pair anywhere else. I think next week I will go shopping somewhere else and have another hunt for them. Does anybody know of any shops that have a pair?
Also, I went into H&M and found a really cute top and cardigan. The pink cardigan would have been warmer if it had longer sleeves, but I told myself it would be perfect for the bracelet sleeve coat. I couldn’t resist the turquoise top because the print was too cute.

I also purchased some mustard coloured tights and some grey ribbed tights from Dorothy Perkins. Next on the list is some black jeans and some skirts, but I haven’t found any I like yet. A nice black high waisted skirt would be perfect, plus a grey one to go with the mustard tights. Another shopping trip is in order I think!
