I saw these shoes from Office in the latest issue of Elle magazine, and the checkered pattern on the toe caught my eye because it looked not unlike the pattern found on brothel creepers.


Creepers were invented in 1949 by George Cox, and were very popular in the 1950s within rockabilly and the Teddy Boy subcultures. I have a pair of Creeper sneakers by T.U.K that I bought when I was about fifteen, but would really love a pair of authentic ones!
